First I want to say that the service was phenomenal. Pablo was a real gem as he was courteous and so attentive. Even brought me club soda because I spilled on my wedding dress. Superb. The reason my review is on the lower end is their menu is deceptive on their google business profile. I personally have never been to such a fancy restaurant and from the online menu options I thought 30-100 bucks for a full course meal was reasonable. Especially on such a special day. They even brought us a free appetizer to check out. Kudos to the chef. The food was delightful. I think they should be more clear about what they are serving. We were already there and wanted to celebrate our wedding vows. The waiter did explain how their menu worked which is an ala carte process meaning the recommended dishes to be ordered for a table of 4 should be no less than 9 entrees, not including vegetables and sides. On a side note a small veggie side is 13 smakaroos. Again not complaining but should be more clear. We spent 76 dollars for 6 pieces of shrimp 38 dollars for a small rack of pork, 36 for a small lobster pasta dish. For a simple taste between the 4 of us it was 200 with tip. Again, food was phenomenal and the experience was pleasurable just wished the online profile would have been more clear because as amazing as the service and food was, for our wedding celebration we would have liked a more celebratory experience without spending 600 or more. My only complaint is the expectations should be clear online as in this day in age we rely so heavily on a businesses google business profile to accurately describe the services being offered.
The service was what stood out the most. It was incredible service. Every dish was explained and the server was very attentive and always checking on us. The portions are tapas style…very small unless you get specific dishes. We ordered the pork belly, octopus, pasta with lamb ragú, and sweet potatoes. The pork belly, sweet potatoes, and pasta with lamb ragú were delicious. The octopus I wouldn’t get again. We enjoyed but not sure we’d return. It’s just too expensive for the portions. The plates are much smaller than how they look in the photos.
Went downtown to working in the morning (as a full-time telecommuter it is good to get out of the house) and did lunch here and wow, it was so amazing. A nice selection of cocktailed and beers on tap and the food was lovely. I had a rigatoni with a meat sauce that was as good as anything I had in Florence and their pizza pie, cooked in the wood fire oven, is super-authentic. Make sure to try the bread with olive oil, so lovely, and the almonds and olives tapa was lovely. We also had the espresso gelato for desert and all I can say is yum, so good. Lovely interior and right next to the historical buildings area of downtown I definitely plan to come back and experience what is like in the evening one night. Especially nice if you live off the rail as it is only a 5 to 7 minute walk from a rail stop.
Worst steak ever. Find somewhere else to eat, so many better places downtown than Pa'La. PLEASE! Stay away from the chimichurri (so they call it) thier salt, onion, garlic, and olive oil concoction is not a chimichurri. It ruined my entire meal, experience, and night. I hope this review helps mitigate future poor experiences for anyone else.
