Hi Rosanna As you are aware, you did not keep up your payments and you owed a substantial amount of money to Crown Lofts (almost 10,000) at the time and left them with no choice as per the contract to terminate works with you.You didn't ever pay the balance in full and monies are still outstanding, for a small business this is also one of the most upsetting and stressful things you can go through but unfortunately as a business we do not have a platform to enter a 1 star review for a customer. This was for a loft almost 3 years ago. Even after not paying, Crown Lofts still left you with a beautiful loft conversion that was signed off at every stage by Building Control. We assume that you have had no issues with the loft which was built almost 3 years ago, however, if you do or if have any queries or questions, please feel free to contact our office in Bracknell and we will do our very best to help you. Thanks again and I hope you are well at these strange times.

Employing Crown Lofts to do our loft conversion has been one of the most stressful & upsetting experiences of our lives. Due to the threat of legal action from Tom Wilson (company owner) because of my previous review that gave full and honest detail, I can only say that we are extremely unhappy with the way we have been treated throughout the entire process and also with the quality of work done. This experience has drained us too much to dedicate the time and effort required to fight a legal case for the sake of an online review, so I have removed all further information. I would strongly warn anyone away from using this company. **EDIT 04/06/2020 - Someone else had been posting reviews under my name using a fake account, these reviews were reported to Action Fraud and removed. Crown Lofts are well aware that my above review (itself highly redacted due to threat of legal action from Crown Lofts and refusal to honour our warranty, which is in itself illegal) is entirely honest and the only review I have left.**
Hi Sara Unfortunately we know the real reason for this negative review and actually its got nothing to do with the work. There was a fall out between parties because your husband Sekander became verbally abusive to the team on site and then demanded a figure of 7000 from Crown Lofts (all of which we have evidence in emails). We also have evidence in emails that you were extremely happy with the work and the team, this negative review has been motivated purely by money and that is a shame, in one email towards the end of the job you even said and I quote the team have done an amazing job! There was a huge storm with 80mph winds and yes some water did get in, carpets were replaced and a professional decorator painted the ceiling. You were made well aware of the risks of a loft conversion and were offered to have a scaffold roof over the property and you signed to say that you didnt want one. Your property and your neighbours (an empty house which your sister was buying) was divided by a single skin of brickwork so both yourself and your sister were made aware that when we make the hole for the steel, it will be seen from next door. That was agreed and understood and as your sister was buying the (empty) house next door, everyone was happy and this was then plastered and painted by crown lofts. The balcony was made incorrectly by the manufacturer so was remade and replaced - again non of which you actually paid for and was approved by Building Control. The front roof slope (existing roof) was never part of the contracted works as it was untouched other than putting 2 x Velux windows in. We have a report from the roofer advising you to have a re-roof because of the poor condition of your roof. You emailed to say you had assumed it had been included as part of the work. You were then told as a gesture of goodwill, Crown would contribute towards a new re-roof on the front which is when your husband demanded 7000 (the entire re roof was quoted at 2000) and the relationship from that moment broke down. Building control signed off every stage of your build, it is a beautiful space and the only reason for the fallout is because of your husbands aggressive behaviour and demanding a large amount of money without justification. The loft was built years ago, Im assuming everything is still fine as we have not heard from you but it really is a shame what motivates a very small minority of people to leave reviews like this. You were extremely happy during the process and were very understanding at the time of the harsh weather conditions that the team were working in to try and get your loft finished.

Great sales pitch from Tom. After that we were initially sent builder who didn't understand architect plans or building structure. A new team was assigned. Initial build ok although much more disruptive than anticipated - noone mentioned a huge temporary ceiling support would be needed in our second bedroom. - Big roof leak ruining landing carpet and outing through electrics onto bed - Falling timbers bounced from top of scaffolding across two neighbors gardens. - Scaffolding ladder left unsecured in high winds. - Builders leave site having 'finished' leaving huge floor creak over Christmas - new carpet had to be pulled up to rectify - Ongoing roofing leaks (Nov - March) damaging new plasterwork in places. After second roofing contractor assigned still leaks and an appalling repair job to front slope - two independent trades people commented in disbelief on state of roof. Have had to pay an alternate roofer 3k to fix front slope. - Incorrect sized / non compliant Juliet balcony fitted. - Issue with extractor fan installation. - Damage done to neighbours wall with steel beam knocking right through to their wallpaper. - Damage done to our lean-to roof by falling bricks - Damaged done to neighbours roofing tiles All the above points documented and raised with Crown. We have been supremely patient and tolerant of all the issues and have escalated now because of the length of build (5 months and counting), the fact Tom confirmed in January there was only one outstanding action with building inspector (in fact 6 outstanding actions), the fact we have twice asked Tom to come in person and look at the quality issues - he has ignored both requests. Crown have offered to drop the final payment due......800 on a 45k+ build. I believe that many people have had a good experience but we have not and would not recommend. IF you choose to go with Crown I have this advice. 1 - ensure you request final payment is at least 10% of build cost so you have some leverage if there are problems. We accepted the proposed payment schedule not anticipating the issues we've had and now have no leverage. 2 - triple check contract particularly if you have an old house or complex build. Lots of things are excluded including rectifying basic things like replacing bath panels where they have to be removed for plumbing. 3 - ensure you are at building inspector meetings or are copied on reports. We left this to Crown believing in safe hands but have found out after a month of inactivity from crown about a number of actions required 4 - clarify who your escalation point is at each stage. We had several contacts who either finished on site, we're sacked or disappeared for personal reasons and it made comms and continuity extremely difficult. Sara Phillips Reading

Crown have just completed our loft conversion (two bedrooms, en-suite & dressing room), and we are extremely pleased with the results. The initial calls and visits by Tom made everything clear and straightforward. The weekly catchup calls from Lorraine and the office were very useful, and everyone was very responsive to any questions we had during the process. The build team of Chris and Callum were brilliant the whole way through. There was less disruption in the house than expected, and they were always available to answer any questions. Chris kept us up to date with the progress every day, and with what was happening over the next week via Whatsapp. Overall the process was excellent, and we would highly recommend this company to anyone.
Hi Andy, thank you so much for your review and we are really glad that you are enjoying your new space. All the very best from everyone at Crown

We completed our loft conversion with Crown Lofts last year and we'd definitely recommend them! From when we first met Tom, through to all the office team and contractors, we really appreciated how professional, friendly, honest and trustworthy they were. We love our new space they created and would definitely use them again and recommend them to friends and family. There were some issues along the way (as expected with any building work) and the team always went out of their way to ensure they were corrected with speed, professionalism and quality. Thanks so much Tom, Lina, Lorraine, Geri, Kyle and all the other contractors involved. We're so happy with our new space :)
