the cons definitely outweigh the pros considering rent is close to $600 per month. this is NOT A SAFE PLACE TO LIVE. the last few weeks alone weve had cars being broken into, cars being stolen, shots fired and still NO SECURITY CAMERAS are being installed. the management is absolutely terrible. upon move in there was copious amounts of rotting food and dead bugs in the kitchen, dust and kitty litter covering the floors of the common spaces, hair and other small items in the matted carpet of my room, and WHITE STAINS ON MY MATTRESS. it was obvious nothing had been cleaned in any of the rooms since the last tenants moved out. many of the amenities are out of order or just not provided (fire pit, golf simulator, weekend shuttle) the dryer barely works and the heat/cooling has gone out more than once. the apartments are roomy and updated and paying for parking is optional but oftentimes it is extremely hard to find a non reserved spot (most of which are empty)
Apartment is fine. Furniture is outdated and worn down. Appliances all work and amenities are nice. The building I have stayed in for the past year has been under construction for maybe 75% of that time, with literal HOLES drilled into our foundation and emails letting us know that we should take decorations off the wall or they will fall off due to the construction. That seems a little unsafe in my eyes. The staff promised some sort of reparations for the conditions of our building in comparison to those of other buildings. Those never occurred. I would've expected maybe a month off rent or decrease in monthly pay in comparison to tenants not dealing with these issues. Or even some sort of coupon. At least something. I was very disappointed in the way this was handled and felt unsafe at times in my own building. The staff didn't follow through on promises as well. Overall disappointed in the situation surrounding my building in the year I was here, but the place is generally fine to stay at as a short term renting location.
I have lived in 5 different apartments in Columbia and this is by far the worst. Maintenance says they fix things and dont even come in the apartment. Things were broken when we moved in and never replaced like we were told. Staff in the office is by far the worst. Especially the students at the front. So rude and quite frankly dont know anything. Everyone tells you something different every time you call. I am a full time nurse and I was trying to sublease and they made a process that should be easy very difficult. Nobody on the property is on the same page. I was harassed going to work one morning by the security they have. The lady waited until I got into my car, shined her flash light into my car didnt state who she was and blocked me in. Cars get broken into every nightmine was broken into 3 times while living here. In the middle of the day someone was shooting in the complex. Its a disaster. Definitely dont recommend.
