Lots of 5-star reviews here, however, I must have arrived at Scotty's Auto Repair Alternate Universe for the Shafted and Taken for Stupid. I spoke with Scotty on the phone about a repair. He is as affable as they come and bent over backwards to assist on a fair quote. He took my name and we set an appointment. When I arrived punctually in the early am, Scotty was nowhere to be found. His alternate stand-in/owner/co-owner/who knows who, had no information about the repair, conversation I had with Scotty, quote, or even my name. A massive, crossed wire on communication. Scotty was out with an apparent upset stomach or, so I was told. After two hours of waiting on Scotty's stand-in, it was finally determined that the repair was not going to go forward. No attempt to confirm with Scotty was on the table. I was quoted approximately $250 over dealer quotes and 2.5x what Scotty quoted over the phone. Unfortunately for the stand-in, I had multiple quotes and a diagnosis on hand prior to my appointment. Sorry Scotty. I was hoping to add another 5-star Google review in honor of your big heart, but the ball was dropped in this instance. I will never return to Scotty's Auto Repair in Stamford, CT for any reason and wish you continued success providing the same excellent service you professed to over the phone. Whether or not this was a classic bait and switch attempt, I am hoping an event like this will not happen again.

Had a catalytic converter replaced here for a 2015 Corolla for $2000 several months ago. I repeatedly told the mechanic that I would be moving back to California and that the catalytic converter he installs must be CARB compliant. I was reassured that it was. I'm back in California and it would not pass emissions due to the catalytic converter and now have to get it replaced again. Untrustworthy shop.
