To be compliant with the Oklahoma Tax Commission, we must charge a 7% medical marijuana tax on the total as well as local city/county/state taxes. The tax rate is 15.517%. I hope this clears up any confusion!

The owner of this dispensary confirmed that they charge tax on the ORIGINAL price rather than the sale price that you are being charged. They are OVERCHARGING THE TAX on every purchase that is on sale/discounted price. I have researched the OTC Law, Chapter 65, Subchapter 19; specific to Medical Marijuana tax, clearly states tax is applied to gross receipts; which is the gross amount of your total purchase prior to tax. It is NOT the original price plus tax, less discount For example: if your purchase medicine at a major pharmacy that is on a $4 plan, you pay tax on $4 not the actual/original amount of the medicine. I also contacted numerous dispensaries in town and confirmed that the tax is based on the total purchase amount. I am in the process of making an appointment with the Oklahoma Tax Commission to discuss this situation and the incorrect taxes being charged by this dispensary.
