Food was fine but if you are not going to let people split a bill like every other restaurant in NY you need to tell people before they eat. You can't wait until the end to tell someone you won't accept the way they want to pay and then burden them with scrambling to figure out how to pay you. Honestly we should have just left. We offered to pay you didn't want to take our payment that's your problem. The manager is rude and this restaurant has so many rules. They wouldn't allow my friend to sit at the bar even though it was empty. You can't split a bill here unless it's an even split. Not good for groups. I'm telling you this because they won't. Will never eat here again for this reason. middle aged with beard and eyeglasses is very rude for no reason at all. I barley interacted with him but he was rude af.
We came here on Valentine's day and did the prix fix menu with the wine pairing. While I knew the menu was overpriced - $198 per person + $98 for the wine pairing, I expected much more than what we got. The most disappointing part about the meal was probably the wagyu beef. It was obvious that the cut was very lean. The ambience of the restaurant was minimalistic, but fine. Thankfully, we were seated at the back, so we didn't have to look at the crowd of people waiting at the door - it was an extremely busy night for the restaurant. The downside of that was, the tables at the back were all very close to each other. We were able to hear the conversations at our adjacent tables. The service was one of the best things about the meal. We weren't rushed, and when the kitchen slowed down in the middle of our meal, the waitress was happy to give us a free top up on our wine. Overall, we enjoyed our meal and the wine pairing. I didn't mind paying more to eat out on a special night, I just expected better ambience and food quality, which I didn't think I got.
My worst 1 star dining experience after so many michelin star restaurants in nyc. Their main problem is their lack of service, definitely need major improvement. We feel not welcome when we walk in on time for our reservation, no greetings or whatsoever. All the staff saw us but noone wants to say anything. Even if you are busy at the moment, you can at least smile and tell us to wait for a minute. Now to the food, we were quite disappointed, snow crab pasta was extremely salty, calamansi sauce on the scallop was overpowering, you cant really taste the seafood flavor, the octopus was really small and overcook. The steam sticky rice was nice though, with duck fat and chinese sausage. At least the waiter keeps refilling our water and change the plates and utensils between courses, but this is the kind of service you should expect at a michelin star restaurant. If the owner sees this and care about your customer, please train your waitresses about proper michelin star hospitality.
