CONTACTS Went there to get fitted for contacts since I couldnt get an updated prescription without it. The eye doctor measured and checked everything then grabbed a pair of contacts in a brand Ive never used before. I REPEATEDLY told her they made me see double and that lights looks like sun bursts rather than light. She said maybe they just need time to adjust.... and didnt give me any other contacts to try. She then told me they would send me samples of this one for me to try... When I cashed out, they tried to sell me a years worth of those contacts DESPITE me having repeatedly said they dont work for me. I tried to get a copy of my prescription but they said the printer was broken and would email it to me- that never happened. When I followed up about getting my prescription sent to me I was told it wasnt ready, that they didnt know what my power level should be between two options.... umm then how were you trying to sell me a years worth of that product if you didnt have my prescription right?? When I FINALLY got my prescription, they had put the brand on there that I told everyone that I had spoken to did NOT work for me. But, since its on there, I cannot use that prescription to buy contacts from my old brand online. So frustrating because Im going to have to call them AGAIN! GLASSES Dropped my frames off on a Tuesday and was told it should only be one day and they would call me when they were done.... Saturday comes with no phone call still. I tried calling. They put me on hold for 5minutes, then came back saying they dont have an update for me and the person usually in charge was out for lunch and they would call me back. I ended up having to call them again when I received no follow up, to be told my lenses werent there and theyd have to check their other store locations. I told her I was frustrated since it had been days of them keeping my glasses without telling me this problem. She went back to look again and FINALLY found my frames and lenses. Really frustrating experience
Poor service. Waited 4 weeks for glasses. Finally told 2 pairs were ready but not the third. Went to collect, waited 5 minutes outside to be let in, then told not allowed in to check the glasses were a good fit, as I didnt have an appointment and that this was due to Covid. However when I went 2 days earlier without an appointment, I was temperature checked and then I was allowed in. The reason I was not allowed in was that there was only one person working, which the receptionist acknowledged. When I complained about the slow and poor service, the receptionist said it was due to my insurance company - this was bs as they had already said there was a problem with the glasses I had ordered, nothing to do with the insurance company. This new shop in Hamlin has made a very poor first impression and I will not use them again! Having posted this review, the Director of The Eye Place called me within 2 hours. She was apologetic and did not dismiss my concerns. Since then I have had my glasses fitted correctly and have been offered compensation for my poor experience. Credit where credit is due, this is the way a business should be run and I very much appreciate the fact that she took time out to call me to discuss my issue. I am now happy to recommend this business.

When dealing with high prescriptions many options are offered from thinnest, lightest lenses to the most cost effective. Prices may be higher when premium products and options are ultimately selected.
