How to obtain Google Consumer Reviews?

    We have mentioned many times that the company should increase its online visibility by being present on various review sites where it can be found by potential clients. One of the valuable sites for gathering reviews is Google Merchant Center, which includes a special program – Google Consumer Reviews. Find out why you should join it and how to obtain reviews from Rating Captain.


    What is the Google Consumer Reviews program?


    It is a free program that allows you to view store reviews for product ads in Google search. Where do the reviews come from? Well, once the program is implemented, your clients will be asked via a survey to give feedback on their recent purchases.


    Program advantages


    Thanks to the programme you can show your potential clients that your offer is really attractive and they should choose it. It is worth mentioning a few advantages of Google Consumer Reviews:


    • seller ratings, which after collecting a sufficient number of reviews can be displayed in search engine ads and product ads;
    • product ratings, which appear as stars on Google along with your product reviews;
    • product ratings and seller ratings can have a positive impact on the number of visits to your site;
    • you can add a programme pin to your store page, so users can see what other customers have commented.


    How to join the program and get feedback from Rating Captain?


    1. Create a Google Merchant Center account. If you have an account – log in and proceed to step 2.

    • fill in the details regarding the company, payments and external platforms on which you sell products and choose the settings for email notifications (detailed instructions here);
    • enter your company details, add your store URL and confirm your website address (detailed instructions here), also configure your delivery settings;
    • connect Google Merchant Center with Google Ads – you need to run a product campaign – (detailed instructions here);
    • upload a product feed, i.e. a file that contains all the necessary information about the products in your store’s offer (detailed instructions here);


    2. Enable the consumer reviews program

    • in the menu on the left click Development, then Manage Programs. Open the Consumer Reviews tab and click Enable to register;
    • accept the terms of joining the program;


    3. Link your GMC account to Rating Captain

    • in the Rating Captain app, go to Page ––> Profiles ––> Add New Profile, click Search for Incompatible Platforms and paste the link as follows:;
    • after clicking on the settings of added profile, you can activate the redirection percentage, i.e., determine what percentage of your clients will receive an invitation to give feedback in GMC;
    • contact us and provide your GMC account ID and integrate your store with Rating Captain by pasting the code below into the order summary page:
